I was looking around on teh internets looking for a local brew club and found your site. I've been brewing off and on for a few years and I just made my first all grain batch. So, hello to you all.

I don't think I'll be able to make it to this meeting, I've got an exam that night (I'm an idiot who decided to go back to finish his degree), but I'm definitely interested. Oh, and I saw your cards at Foreman's yesterday, that's a good place for grains, inexpensive.

Did you happen to be at Foreman's around 4pm? I was there getting grain for a beer I brewed today too. Sorry I didn't say hi.
Brewed a Belgian Strong Dark today, 1.100 starting gravity! Look out Bluebonnet 2010.

Dude! Going a bit on the Big side are we? Did you use any sugars? If so what did you use.

Yeah, that was me. That's funny, I almost asked if you were one of the members here. I was picking up the grains to make a semi-sorta Heineken clone, a friend of mine loves it and has never had a non-skunked version of it. Too bad though, Foreman's didn't have the strain of yeast I needed or the hops, so another order for AHBS. I really wish there was a place locally that had everything I needed on a consistent basis, so I didn't have to waste money on shipping...
Anyway, if you can keep me in the loop, I'll meet up with you guys soon.

Mark:
Used regular cane sugar. Collected approx 8 gallons, boiled for a bit over 2 hours, used about 2.5lbs of sugar. I actually over shot and was over 26brix so I added a bit of water towards the end of the boil to end up at 25brix.
Horrible efficiency though, I think I managed 58 or 60%.
Eskimo: Don't forget about Ft. Worth Homebrew (the old winemaker shop) or Homebrew Headquarters. They may have what you need. If not you can always post a note here and maybe someone else has something you need, we are always willing to help each other out.

Is Ft Worth Homebrew open now? And I really like HomebrewHQ, but that's quite a drive from my house. Anyway, thanks for the info!

Ft Worth Homebrew isn't technically open yet due to problems with the certificate of occupancy but if you call them they can still sell you items or I believe you can also order online with them and pick up at the store.

Hey, the guy you helped do the all grain just bought my kegging stuff, so at least I kept it in the family! Looks like he's going to do a kegerator setup, so he's happy. Anyway, I'll see you guys at the next meeting.
