So is anyone else stinging from getting a 41 rated beer in the 1st round that somehow lost it's ability to stay within style and hit a 25 in the second?

Did you have your fill of your good beers being not quite in the right style? Maybe your Brown Porter had too much hop character to be a Northern Brown, but the wrong hop variety to be American Brown... but DAMN if it wasn't a really good beer.

Well from You Can't Brew That On Television, in conjunction with the Brewers of Dogleg Brewery and the production team at Lonestar TV (www.frontiertelevision.com) comes the BEST DAMN BEER COMPETITION.

Beers will be entered by whatever "style" the brewer feels they want to call it. They will go in front of a panel of 7 judges of mixed experience. The judges will not know the “style” or brewer, but will rank the beer simply on how “good” it is. Beers will be discussed and ranked LIVE on www.frontiertelevision.com , during which everyone can see what beer is on the block and what the judges think. One entry per brewer, 50 entries max, ONE winner. The Best Damn Beer.

In the next couple of weeks we will have up the signup info. And remember, this isn’t for the faint of heart. Your beer will be lauded or trashed according to the judges tastes. So please do not enter if you are easily offended.

Cider too? I have one that scored 42 in the first round, 26 in 2nd round

Ciders and Meads are welcome. However I am not sure how they will be received. I am trying to keep a wide array of judging experience and ideas in the competition... that being said there should be a bit of an open mindedness.

Judging seems such a fickle item, huh?

I have a tasty wheat stout.

That sounds like a perfect beer for this contest. Although it isn't required that it doesn't meet style, it could very well be a plus for the most unique AND good tasting beer.
