Grapefruit and Beer don't seem a good combination, and Ginger shouldn't EVER be associated with grapefruit.

It doesnt sound good...but yet Im drawn to it in a manner akin to not being able to drive past a car wreck without looking. I will have to try it.

It should be available soon since the spring seasonal is gone before spring started, so why not a summer seasonal for spring!

Grapefruit and Beer don't seem a good combination

Isn't grapefruit one of the classic descriptions of C-hops? Doesn't sound that radical to me (actually sounds kinda good).

I think grapefruit and ginger are golden together, in my humble opinion. I like the pale/golden/straw brew and I love citrusy/coriander of that style of beer. I think the Rio Red grapefruit is one of the best and if I were to pick a citrus, she's my gem.

Is me just me or does that sound nasty!

That was my first thought as well.

But then I like relish and pineapple on my pizza. And I thought I invented mustard on my fries until I ate at a country kitchen. So I guess I’m morally obligated to try it.

It's not a combination I would have thought up, but now I'm going to have to try it.

I think kinda like it, but the ginger overwhelms the grapefruit by a large margin to the extent that I haven't been able to detect it. My wife loves it but also loses the taste of the grapefruit after a few sips.

For all you BJCP lovers. This beer would score very high. Part of beer evaluation is being unbiased .Expand your mind.(variety is the spice of life). Like it or not this is a very well made beer. Get out your all important style guidelines and a scoresheet. Embrace the craft you so vigorously defend (when bashing the big breweries) ! I do not care for grapefruit . As a Brewer I respect and admire the craftsmanship that was put into this beer. I am glad to be part of an industry that is willing to be different. Women are a large part of the growth in this industry. Several of the women I tasted this beer with really liked it. I like women and beer. I am glad that they are not all made the same way! "Vive La Diffe'rence!". Don't be a beer basher.

...Expand your mind....Don't be a beer basher.

I am not bashing only saying I did not like it. Whether it would score well is a different story. I will & have judged beers I don't like. I drink beers I do like. An evaluation on whether you like it or not has absolutely nothing to do with how well it would judge.

I have had to pull my mind away from how it well it fits into a BJCP style. That mind set has ruined about a few years worth of drinking good beer and being disappointed that it does not fit in style X. Now I ask myself would I like another one or not, but I can flip that switch if I wanted to judge it.

Part of beer evaluation is being unbiased. Like it or not this is a very well made beer.

Part of beer evaluation is "does this taste good to me? Do I want to drink another?" Taste is completely subjective. Comparing a beer to guidelines is really only important when judging beers for competition and sensory analysis. It might be well-brewed, but if the drinker doesn't enjoy the taste, then it's a bad beer to that drinker. The person right next to them might love it.

Ever heard of cascade?

I like ginger in beer. I was a big fan of good juju. Add some grapefruit and you might have something. Looking forward to trying this.

I thought it was pretty good. It tastes exactly how it reads on the label.

I though it was pretty good. Refreshing. I wouldn't want to drink a six pack in a single sitting, though. My biggest problem with it is that the malt flavor is overwhelmed by the ginger and grapefruit--it almost doesn't taste like a beer. But I'd sure as hell drink one after mowing the lawn on a 105 degree day.

But then again, I really like both ginger and grapefruit. So maybe it's just that.

This is not something I'd think about when thinking "beer." But if I step out of a beer mindset I say it is okay. I would not buy another six pack but if I came to your house and that is what you offered, I'd enjoy it. Chris would buy it for when she gets through mowing the lawn. I only let her mow when it is 105 or more so it would be a good beer for her.

OK BUMP
BEER WARZ
To the actual point of this reply...
Give this beer a try, its rather refreshing and worth the time. No you probably would not want to drink a full sixer of it but for what its worth. It is what they say it is and for any of the Fruit/SHV/Specialties that gets you a long ways. And amazing enough it works, kinda like Cheer, they are not for everyone and they are definitely not trying to please everyone just a small sampling of people that dont like Corn in their Bocks.
It should be exciting to see someone that is big and can do whatever they like go out on a limb and do something different, too many times the big boys brew what they can strip down, sell and step on everyone else.

I thought it was a pretty clean, crisp beer that showcased those flavors pretty well. There was an interesting front-end flavor that I also had in my Rosemary beer.

If I was judging it in the specialty category or veggie/herb/spiced beer, I'd say it's pretty good. I would not, however, buy it. Just wasn't my thing. But Cristall loved it, so there ya go.

If ya like it, drink it; if ya don't, don't.
