You got me on the list for beer already.

Do you need someone to bring rice?

Mark - Confirmed
JB - We are now covered

Are there any additional shares available? If so, I will take one. If not, I will come eat and drink beer anyway.

Joe, you are on the list.
This puts us at 15 shares and that is the maximum we can reserve. Depending on utilization and other variables there may be additional wort but I cannot guarentee.
The party will still be on. Gumbo, Music and Good Times, even a little dancin' (ok if you want to call that little jig a dance)

My wife and I will try and make it out on Sunday. And by try I mean I haven't told my wife yet
So I will hopefully get to meet everyone at that time. I am looking forward to getting answers to a barrage of questions I have have brewing in my head.

Don't tell her until you are half way there then if she questions you will be more than half way and its closer to the brewery than it is to turn around and go all the way back home.
Come on out, anyone would be more than happy to answer questions. You will have the chance to see an All-Grain process and we can visit about each step. Bring a carboy just incase we have extra wort.

We are in! I will be there. I will bring my primary in hopes to drag home some of the sweet wort.
I have done all partial mashes since I started, so I have a few questions about the all grain. My next batch will be all grain, I am only missing a few things...
I am about to upload a picture from trying a beer that Megan bought be at Central Market. They have the Kwak in a bundle with their special bottle and wooden holder. Caption should read "Paws off my beer!"

I am fixing to bottle a Scotch ale and was wondering, can you dump the oatmeal stout on top of the secondary yeast cake or do I need to go buy some new yeast?

What yeast did you use for the Scotch Ale? I would imagine that you could use it for the oatmeal.

Great! Glad you could make it.

On this same note, I have a Brown Ale in the primary right now. If I wait until Sunday and rack to the secondary before I come over there, would that yeast cake be good for starting the fermentation in the next beer? I have never reused yeast before, but it is something I would like to start doing. It is Wyeast American Ale.

Should be no problem. Just be prepared for the fermentation to be really vigorous due to the amount of yeast.

Reusing yeast is easy, sanitize a mason jar and lid.
after racking wipe the opening of your carboy with a papertowl soaked in sanitizer then pour into the jar. leave a little head space. put the lid on loosely and refrigerate, after a couple of days you can tighten the lid. there are different thoughts as to if you should keep the secondary or primary. the primary may have hop and break material. secondary will be cleaner but much less. if you pull the primary you will have enough yeast for 4 to 6 additional batches. secondary may only produce 2 or 3 batches. a reference for how much to pitch can be found here: http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html

M Cow 9,
DarkWing also likes to use Mason Jars to capture all his yeast slurry's, but never puts a lid on them. Get a big fat rubber stopper #13, and put it on the jar with an airlock. In the future, always plan your brews to utilize this great resource (the big healthy slurry), think ahead 2 or 3 brews. ;)
