Anyone know where I can get a used 55 gal. metal drum? One of my other hobbies is smoking meat, and I have been wanting to build a vertical smoker using a 55 gal. metal drum. Need one that has been used for either dry goods and/or food grade - don't want to use one that contained any toxic chemicals, petroluem products, etc. I've heard that breweries and food processors deal with these... any ideas?
If I can get er' done I'll bring it to the next Big Brew!
Thanks guys,
-Vince

I SWEAR! I looked on Craigslist this afternoon and did not see anything that was clearly food-grade.
Awesome, thanks! Will call and check it out.

I got http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97894____SearchResults
about 6 weeks ago. I have made about 40# of beef jerky so far (Nick, James and Lumpher got to try some)
it is available at Lowes for $200
It will easily fit 10# of un-dried jerky, 4 slabs of ribs, 4 chickens, or 20# of briskit at a time.
I like the electric because it is percice temprature control without having to add anything more than some woodchips every 2 hours.
