i would like to redo my cart and get all the wood off of it and replace with plastic and install new wheels.

I suppose I could also convert a couple of kegs into a keggle and mash tun. My SS ball valves/weldless kits are still on back order, but I can cut the tops and drill the holes.

after screwing up my wrist on my last batch, moving hot water here and there, i'd love to build a single-tier brewstand...problem is as of now, i have no schematics/plans/etc nor do i have materials. i hadn't planned on building one for a while, but the residual pain is making it an accellerated project for me.

i may not be able to participate in fabfab day, but on that same note, any help anyone wants to offer for coming up with a plan would be greatly appreciated. i'm scouring the various forums for ideas and tricks as i type.

I'm facing the same problem. Several of the guys in the club have nice brewstands. I'm sure they'd be willing to show you what they did. Hey guys, if you could, please post pictures of your stands to give us ideas.

I'm currently looking at a couple designs, but don't think I'll have the money for a complete brewstand by the time we have this fab day. I can definitely do the mill cart, though.

I went an easy route and it looks cool too. I picked up a Stainless prep table off of Craigs list and mounted burners directly to the Table. Believe it it or not doesn't get hot at all. Then Fabed some Grates over the kegs. I think I picked up the table for 150 bucks.

I have a few projects I would like to work on myself. I don't think we could do them all at once, but just so there are more ideas that we can do I will list them all.

I have two kegs ready to be cut open. I would love to put valves in them, and possibly some thermometers as well.

We are in the midst of remodeling it to have a full scale kitchen. I want to turn one of these kegs into a boil pot that contains some heating elements and can run electronically with the 220V line. I want to add this to be able to do inside batches with electronic temp control.

I would also like to mount and build a stand for my grain mill.

I would also (but likely not at Fab Fab) like to build a brewstand. I have access to much rebar and was considering building my stand from that. After all, that is my business and it would be cool for me to have that flair there.

You need at least 37 pieces of flair to be cool.

Here is an easy route to go. you don't need to build a stand. just need to add a pump and can add another short single burner that is low. In this configuration you would most likely mash on the short single burner. then have the hlt and boil kettle up high so you can gravity feed the sparge water to the mash tun and the wort to the fermenter.

Just picked one up for $99 (normally $119) at Academy during their After Christmas sale. Keep an eye on the ads, they do go on sale from time to time.

I've helped a couple of club members modify that Academy stand... adding a shelf etc to make it a two tier. Hard to beat the price when you add all the components up and already have a stand to work from.

How much and what type of beer does it take to get that "help"?

Here's my stand that Clint welded up. James and I made almost identical stands, I bet he still has the cut sheet and all. The green makes mine far superior though.

Crappy iPhone pic. This is before I had a chance to put the casters on it. Those of you who came to the xmas party saw it in all it's glory.

That stand really is hard to beat for that price. Has two burners on it already and wheels? I mash in a cooler right now anyway, so i wouldn't need a burner. I have one anyway, but I wouldn't need it.

I think I will go that route for my initial outdoor brew setup.

Looks like we have many kegs...if you could help getting holes in the kegs ..or tops cut that would be great...will look for a plasma torch for the tops works best but we may be limited to other options.

Have you checked with Wayne at bargainfittings.com? He gave me a slight discount because he is in Plano and shipping is cheaper. He sold me everything for my keggle and MLT, at a very good price.

Unfortunately, everything's bought and paid for, and they're packing the order right now. Too late to cancel. It was a 20% off sale with no tax and free shipping, so it probably came out to about the same. I'll have to check bargainfittings first next time, though; they are much cheaper.

I think I'll go this route for my first brew stand and just make some modifications to it, like adding a shelf and a low burner on the side for the mash tun. Now I need a pump to move wort from the mash tun to the kettle. The rest can be gravity powered. This is going to add up quickly.

I can cut holes drunk without a guide marking line using an angle grinder.

True, and you will do it in half the time I do. But you will burn out the cutting blade before you finish a 2nd keg, and will not have a nice circle like I had on mine.

If ppl are getting holes cut into kegs, I recommend finding an old lid and using it as a template for the hole in your keg. I did this, and now have a stainless lid with a perfect fit for my keggle.

So do you guys just install a weldless fitting or tig weld on a coupling?

I would be ok with the weldless. Easier to repair/replace if there are problems. I will need three. Do you think we should try a group buy on these? Sounds like we will be doing at least a dozen.
