Default Wisconsin Should be Drunker

A bill moving moving through Wisconsin's statehouse would lower its drinking age to 19, a move its author hopes would undercut college binge drinking in an already booze-soaked state.
What could go wrong?

The proposal, revealed Wednesday, comes from Republican Reps. Adam Jarchow, Cindi Duchow and Rob Swearingen, as Madison's WISC-TV reported. Lowering the age could save "countless hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars" spent enforcing drinking laws among young adults, Jarchow said.
But wait, there must be research, right?

"I see no reason why we can send young men and women off to war but they can't have a beer, (Republican Rep Adam) Jarchow, the bill's author, said.
Scientific basis?
"The idea is if you prohibit people to doing something until they are 21, the natural inclination is to be a little bit rebellious when they're young, (and) then to overindulge," he (Jarchow)said.

The problem is that states lose tons of federal funding if they drop the drinking age below 21, that's why they all brought it up in the first place. Novel idea, but it will never happen.
