Default GABF Awards

Congratulations to Rahr and Sons for their Silver Medal winning Oktoberfest. I'm planning to have one or two myself this evening to celebrate.

Other notable achievements for Texas breweries:
St Arnold won gold for their Pumpkinator, bronze for their Amber, bronze for the Weedwacker, and the Mid-Sized Brewery of the Year
Austin Beer Garden won gold for their Rocket 100 pilsner, gold for their Velvet Revolution, and Large Brew Pub of the Year

It was a good year for Austin breweries in general, but in North Texas congrats also go to Armadillo Ale Works in Denton for bronze for their Honey Please, and Peticolas won silver for their It's Always Something.

And let's not forget that Shiner Bock won silver in the American Amber category, and several Houston area newcomers also did them selves proud.

Altogether by my count, Texas breweries came away with 9 gold medals out of 98 (or 99) categories.

Well done.

Now for that Rahr Oktoberfest.

I'm always glad to see how well Texas does at GABF. I have had people who moved here from other states say they were not happy with the selection here, and i have to disagree. Our locals are really putting out some first class beer.
